The next book in the Ballentyne and Courtney saga will be a must read for fans of Wilbur Smith. The first pages reminded me where The Triumph of the Sun left off, then the action started. Already, in the first few pages there is Penrod, a love interest, Amber, and a potential villain, Lady Agatha. Penrod, the handsome soldier, he has rescued Amber and the scene is set for another African adventure. The opening scene has a chase scene, somewhat James Bondesque but this left me wanting to read more at the end of the preview pages.
No doubt this tale will be based on Smith’s thorough research embellished with his narrative that brings alive scenes in the reader’s imagination. Smith’s ability to keep the reader engaged doesn’t appear to have diminished over time. I am ready to buy this book.
