This is such an interesting and well done YA story. Juliet comes out to her family the night before she leaves to spend the summer interning with her feminist idol on the other side of the country. The rest of the story is filled with her learning about herself, about feminism, about LGBTQ+ identities, about race and intersectionality. The story is set in 2003, and as someone who was just a bit younger than Juliet was at the time, I think this timing is a good choice for the story. It wasn't that long ago, and yet the conversations that were happening at that time were different than what is common knowledge or frequently talked about today. This is one of those stories that you read and are so glad it's in the world.
