Juliet takes a breath is a coming of age story about a Latina girl named Juliet who moves to Oregon right after coming out to her conservative mother. When Juliet leaves she's not sure her mom will ever speak to her again. While in Portland Juliet is just starting to really dive into feminism and is learning as she goes. This book is mostly about Juliet's journey and there is not a lot of significant events or plot twists in the story, which is something that I thoroughly enjoy in a story.
This book goes back and forth between being written informally and formally and it does not always work in favor of the book in my opinion.
Overall in my opinion this book can be a hit or miss with readers and it just was not one that really kept my attention and had me speeding through it.
