Honestly, if I saw this book at a bookstore, I probably wouldn’t even pick it up to read the synopsis. I’m usually a mystery/thriller lover but this book has shown me I’m missing out by sticking with that one genre. I am so glad I won this book from bookish first because it was amazing, incredibly well written and heartwarming.
Sharina Harris writes a poignant story about family, loss, and moving on. She also writes about issues we are seeing in society today and definitely makes you think.
Judge Joseph was a smart man. So when he unexpectedly passes away his daughter, Maya, is shocked at the stipulation in his will. While she loves her stepsister,Ryder, she has never gotten along with her stepmom, Jeannie.
All three women are grieving in different ways. Jeannie begins drinking, Ryder begins acting out, and Maya is just trying to hold herself together and keep Jeannie from ruining lives.
This book alternates from their different points of view and it’s easy to feel for each character. I loved everything about this book and can’t wait to read more from this author.
