Judge’s Girls by Sharina Harris was so, so good! I did not want to put it down! The author defined her characters really well and described some very tough subjects that are so real. This book is about Judge Joe and his daughter Maya his current wife Jeanie and her daughter Ryder. This book starts out with Judge Joe’s funeral and I laughed so hard at how the author describes the carrying on at the funeral by his sisters! But then as you keep reading you realize that Maya has some issues with Jeanie being a lot younger white woman that marries her Daddy! Maya was brought up to be a strong black woman and to never cry in front of anyone because that is a sign of a weak woman but yet Jeanie cries at the drop of a hat and Judge babied her. Ryder was really into writing poetry and was a good girl and didn’t want to disappoint Judge Joe her stepdad but she considered him her Dad. Maya really looked out for Ryder because Jeanie was a mess after the funeral. Ryder did get with the wrong crowd but soon realized she needed to do the right thing. Maya was a lawyer and really good and what she did and was looking to make partner. As you go through this book it brings to light how alcoholism, non communication, and verbal abuse can destroy the best of families. But hopefully you an get the help you need to mend the differences. One of the best books I have read in awhile! Go grab a copy and have some tissues near by!

I received as an ARC from Bookish for an honest review.
