Let's start with the cover. - If I am being honest, the cover-art is pretty bland. There isn't anything super eye-catching or appealing right off the back. The shade of blue was pretty, but that's all that got my attention sadly.

This was ultimately my first book by Sharina Harris. Sharina Harris's writing style is easy to follow. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to engage in her writing.

The storyline / plot was actually fairly unique, at least for me. I've never read anything that had a similar storyline. In this book, we meet Beloved Georgia judge Joseph Donaldson who is well-known for his fairness in the courtroom. HOWEVER, he has a ... shaky marriage to a much-younger woman which is quite the gossip topic. In order for them to get their inheritance, his daughter Maya, her stepmother Jeanie, and Jeanie's son Ryder all have to live together. It's no secret Maya and Jeanie don't get along, which is likely why this has to occur right? Jeanie is struggling with her own demons, trying to drink them away..w hich is causing her son Ryder his own embarrassment. THey all try to help each other resulting in some secrets being told and drama unfolding....

This book DEFINITELY hits upon some tough topics, especially for teenagers. I'd recommend this to others for sure.
