What a wonderful read. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire book. In the beginning we meet Maya, Jeanine, and Ryder who are all dealing with the sudden loss of their family's patriarch, Joe from a sudden cardiac event. Maya, Joe's strong, independent, attorney daughter, moves back into her father's house with Jeanine, Joe's wife, and Ryder, Jeanine's daughter.

Overall, I loved the characterizations of each one of the characters. I think the conflict that each character faced and its resolution were adequate. (Read: not too over the top, or unbelievable.) I loved that this book tackled many different issues: loss, depression, alcoholism, racism, and independence. Each issue was addressed tactfully and wonderfully in the plot. I felt like I was watching a feel good movie, left wanting more!

I received the book as an advanced reader's copy from Bookish First/Netgallery in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for the opportunity to read this!
