Maya and Jeanne hate each other. Well, hate may be a strong word for it. Maya would be perfectly happy if Jeanne vanished. Jeanne could do with much less Maya in her life. The only people keeping them from each other's throats are Judge Joe and Ryder. He is Maya's father and married to Jeanne, Maya's stepmother as it were. Ryder is Jeanne's daughter and Maya's little sister. Judge Joe is gone now, and the fat is in the fire.
