This is my second book by Lynda La Plante and she still does not disappoint. I was a little wary that this book may not be as thrill catching for me than another one of hers I read, but this has been just as exciting!! I haven't read the first one in this DC Jack Warr series, but this still reads great not having read the first one yet!! DC Jack Warr is investigating a series of burglaries that have been violent and terrorizing, but what he finds hidden are secrets and lies hidden by the locals. The detective is a strong complex character that seems to walk the line of stretching the law to keep the greater good safe. This book had quite a few twists and turns as dark secrets came to light and revealed to find those responsible for the crime spree and blood shed that resulted in murder. I usually go for female leads but I like this character, and will have to go back and read the first one in the series to see how much he has evolved from book to book.
