This book started off a little slow for me. The initial scene was kind of out of left field and seemed unrelated to the rest of the book for a long time. The writing style was a bit jerky and I felt like the brief scenes jumped all over the place. However, once I got used to the style and pace, I got hooked. Eventually, the initial scene tied in and made total sense and I couldn't put this book down. I enjoyed all the characters, but especially Jack. I'm glad to see that this book is part of a series, because I'm not quite ready to let him go yet! He has a darkness that I found intriguing...and he reminded me a little of one of my FAVORITE characters, John Sandford's Lucas Davenport. Smart, shrewd, willing to get his hands dirty to get the job done. I particularly liked his relationship with his boss Ridley. I think this is a series that I can definitely get into and follow through many season. Thank you Bookish First!
