This is book 2 in the Detective Jack Warr series and La Plante brings it again! Though this novel can be read as a standalone, I personally feel reading book 1, titled Buried, and getting to know the style of this author and seeing character development is beneficial and I do feel having read the first book made the experience of reading the second better for me. Now with that all said, this book is an equal to its predecessor. It’s entertaining and exciting and full of excellent plot twists and turns. Detective Warr is a likable character and I just felt all kinds of sympathy for Charlotte, the woman linked in this novel. The book has this great easy reading flow that lets you get lost in it. It’s a fast paced, easy read with all the positive qualities of just a good solid story. I do love a book with a good closure and this one definitely does not disappoint.
