Thank you to Bookish First for a copy of Judas Horse.

LaPlante is a master of crime (a plethora of types) and police procedure. Her Tennison series were my introduction to her work and then on to Prime Suspect.

Her writing pulls the reader in almost immediately even though it takes a while to become immersed. Her characters are real with all the foibles that the rest of us have. Jack Warr is first a human being with all the questions and insecurities we all have. He is also analytical, knowledgeable about the human character, perseverant and patient.

LaPlante does not shy away from the grissly details of crime. From time to time I thought she used too much detail, but that is part of the actuality. She includes the horrible along with the tenacity to uncover the identity of the criminal.

I look forward to reading more by LaPlante. Thank you.
