This was my first book by Lynda La Plante and it probably won’t be my last! Even though this was book two in the series, it was not hard to get into.
This books follows Jack Warr who is a London-based detective. He is promoted with the task of solving a series of burglaries. As the burlieries get more dangerous, people in their way are murdered. Will Warr be able to catch these criminals before their next act of crime?
We can see Jack’s frustration as his mentality of a loose cannon is shown. His way of dealing with these men are quite violent.
The detective is clever enough to invade the crime ring with a ‘Judas Horse’ even though innocent lives are at stake.
This book to me was more of a slow burn rather than the face-paced thriller I was expecting. The characters were well developed and complex throughout the story.
Overall, I enjoy this book and would read the rest of the series!
