I want to thank Bookish First for my ARC of this book. Having read a couple of Lynda LaPlante's books before I was drawn to the book because of the author and the cover but the name of the book was intriquing. Detective Jack Warr volunteers for the Cotswolds consultancy job which involves a series of burglaries at the homes of some very rich people. As we watch Jack wade through the burglaries, we can feel his frustration at the lack of clues. Clearly, someone has been tipping off the burglars as to which homes to raid and when. This is a great book and I could not put it down. I am looking forward to seeing what Lynda does with Jack in future books. Lots of twists and turns with a fellow investigator who thinks he is top dog and that Jack is just an underling that he cannot trust. Jack goes undercover in this book and its funny to see how he relates to his undercover character and also keeps fine tuned to who he really is-- a detective with a new baby girl, Maggie the love of his life and his mom who has moved in with Jack and Maggie and makes life easier for all of them. It was also interesting to learn what the term Judas Horse really meant. A great read for anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
