The book started with a bang--a gruesome dead body--then immediately went to a case involving a burglar. That case, while interesting also, allowed for more development of the main character, Jack Warr, especially if one had not read his first adventure. By the end of this selection, the reader has a growing knowledge of this person and his private and work lives. The dead body of course provides a hook to continue reading to learn more of how that came about.
