I wasn't quite sure how well I'd like this retelling of Little Women. Firstly, because, to be quite honest, I struggled to get through reading the original. It is one of the few books that I enjoyed the movie(s) better. Secondly, because often retellings don't have the same feel and context that originals do.
Well, I can say that I was pleasantly surprised with Jo and Laurie. Although it doesn't have the same feel of Little Women (to me) that might actually be a good thing.
The only downside for me is it took me a bit to connect with the characters. I got plenty of insight into Jo but I wanted more from the other supporting characters. More depth, more point of view. Still, I'm glad I used my points for this one.
