I will start by admitting that I may be one of the very few women who hasn't actually read "Little Women". When I first started reading Jo and Laurie I thought it seemed fun. Jo sounds like a strong "go get it" kind of woman so I was a bit perturbed by her seemingly lacking articulation about how she felt about the title chosen for her. I also found it distracting how she mentioned the horse carriage in the midst of this conversation - drew me away from the situation immediately!
After that initial setting of Jo with Mr. Niles, I found the narrative much more engaging.
