I know this book is being met with a lot of mixed reviews. Fans of the classic are upset to see Jo and Teddy together--since the author wanted Jo to never marry and even said that she didn't love Teddy in the way he loved her-- which I can respect.

At the same time, as a fan of the classic myself, I know that this book is a work of fiction and isn't trying to disrespect the author's wishes.

Just like I love Romeo and Juliet re-tellings, or Beauty and the Beast re-tellings that don't follow the original, I enjoyed this books take on the beloved classic. I can separate the original and the modern take and enjoy both. I know that Jo wouldn't have married Teddy (and that the author didn't want her to marry at all), but in this book, I'm excited to see WHAT IF she did want to and did love Teddy in the way he loved her. I always shipped Jo and Teddy, but respected that Jo did not love him, but again, I enjoyed seeing one of my favorite ships get together.

I think everyone going into this book needs to separate the classic from this book. Go in with a open-mind and just enjoy the story being told.
