My love for Little Women is long standing and deep. The characters are as familiar to me as any others. The first chapters feel familiar, like reuniting with your oldest friends, but the authors cleverly create ways to make changes to the plot to allow her own story to unfold. I worry that they are doing this to make it so Jo ends up with Laurie as so many Little Women fans have long since wished. I have always been of the opinion that Jo knew her own mind and was right to refuse him, and hope this book does not take it upon itself to change her mind for her.
