The poise of the writing style does a good job at trying to capture the era of the original book while still being freshly approachable. A lot of people are reading/re-reading Little Women after the recent successful film adaptation so a capably written sequel/re-imagining of sorts like this is quite intriguing. Jo's point of view is vividly realized even within these first chapters.
