Island Affair starts out with Luis Navarro lamenting that he is being forced to take a week off from his job as a fire fighter. We are given the impression that he has witnessed tragic events in his past and recently that have concerned those around him. The other main character, Sara Vance, has just been left in the lurch by her now ex-boyfriend and needs someone to stand in as her significant other on a family vacation. As luck would have it, she crosses paths with Luis and they strike a deal.

Now, my first thought was that Island Affair would be mostly a rom-com type story where awkward incidents happen while Luis and Sara attempt to keep their stories straight and uphold their ruse for the benefit of Sara's family. I was pleasantly surprised. It was so much more than I anticipated. The depth and feeling that came out as Luis and Sara got to know each other was beautiful to read. Even though the action of the story happened only over a few days, the writing was so good that I truly believed that their feelings were genuine. I was rooting for them 100%. Luis and Sara's families were very different from each other and I loved that. The supporting characters were all interesting and gelled with the story. The setting of Florida was perfect and the beautiful cover successfully gives off that beach vibe.

Congratulations to Priscilla Oliveras on writing this wonderful book as well as special thanks to the publisher and BookishFirst for the opportunity to read the book and give my own personal opinion of Island Affair.
