This beginning of this book reminded me of all the classic romantic meet-cutes we see in rom coms. Two people down on their luck deciding to work together to benefit mutually. Luis, a benched firefighter, and Sarah, a girl who just got stood up by her lover, meet at the perfect time and decide to help each other out. The book holds enough mystery at the beginning about the full backstories of both characters but gives you enough crumbs to want to keep reading and find out how they really ended up landing where they are now.
The story changed perspectives every chapter which uniquely allows the reader to see what’s going on in both heads while the story progresses. It must take a person to be really in need for them to introduce a stranger to their family and present them as their fiancé but hey a girls got to do what a girls got to do right?
