What a fun little read for me. Sara and Luis had such a great chemistry and of course the setting added such a beauty and warmth to the overall story. I did have a few issues but that will come later.
Island Affair is the story of Sara, who is a social media influencer and is in need of a rescue. Luis is a firefighter who is on a week forced vacation from the job and not quite sure what he will do with his time. Their meet cute is in the parking lot of the airport after Sara is stood up by her family vacation date. Sara asks Luis for help and of course he swoops in to save the day, isn't that firefighters do. Did I mention this all takes place in Key West and surrounding Keys? Heaven on Earth.
If you are thinking to yourself, this sounds like all other romantic comedies, not so fast. There is certainly an undercurrent of family drama on both sides of our pretend couple. Of course this makes for a very interesting role playing adventure for our lovebirds. My only problems came in with the drama. It was serious drama and it felt a little too serious in what I thought was going to be a fun easy beach read. This is my one and only complaint. I was expecting something a little lighter than what the actual problems were. I don't think it distracted from the story but I do believe it distracted me just a little bit.
This was a solid 4 star read and I truly enjoyed it. It was left open for other books in a series and I will gladly pick them up. Thank you to the publishers and author for allowing me a chance to read and review.
