I must admit, I am not much of a romance reader. But so many contemporary romances have come out that have turned me, and Island Affair is definitely one of them! A Cuban firefighter randomly meets a social media influencer and they agree to pretend he is her boyfriend after her real boyfriend does not show up for the vacation. Sara is on vacation and has been dealing with an eating disorder and her overbearing family. Luis lives on the island, has his big, exuberant family close by, and cannot believe he agrees to the farce with Sara. But then, as they spend more time together, they come to realize that they truly have feelings for each other, and that they both truly enjoy each other's company and their families. This book was so cute and uplifting, and it was something that I needed right now with all the craziness in the world. I cannot wait to read the sequel!
