This is a cute romance that starts with the “fake boyfriend” scheme. Sara is an social media influencer who doesn’t want to disappoint her family when her current boyfriend plays a no show on a trip to meet her family. Sara unexpectedly meets Luis at the airport and he agrees to fill in as her beau. Although this is a plot that is not new, I loved the beginning of this book. Both Sara and Luis find comfort in each other and despite the “fakeness” of their relationship, they begin to grow close.
After a dynamic beginning, the story began to drag for me midway through. I found myself wondering why Luis would agree to take part in this scheme that would inevitably use up all of his vacation time (despite the fact that the time off was unwanted ). The ending was also no surprise. I did enjoy the characters. I just wish that we were given a chance to see more of their inner thoughts. That might have explained some unanswered questions.
