Cuban Love Affair!
Review:
“Life and love could be equally as fleeting. Whisked away by a force beyond your control.”
I loved Holiday Home Run, and knew I needed to read Island Affair before I dove into Anchored Hearts. Let me tell you, if Anchored Hearts is ANYTHING like Island Affair, it’s going to be one my favorite books of the year.
We tackle a lot of topics in this fake date trope. Now, I’ve never been a big fan of fake date, but y’all, this is one that needs to be read. Oliveras discusses ED, cancer, tragedy and death, and the constant pressure to live up to your parents expectations. I was very appreciative of how each topic was handled, and surprised that they were addressed in what was such a wonderful romance. These characters are flawed and real, which is what I always love in a book.
Sara and Luis were a wonderful couple. I enjoyed their real meet-cute, and their story meet-cute. I had several laugh out loud moments, especially from the Navarro family. Lydia reminded me of my own mother, and I loved the entire family. Sara’s family grew on me over time, and I could feel the longing she had wishing to be closer to them.
Overall, it’s a wonderful book I think y’all definitely need to pick up if you’re trying to escape this gloomy weather. It is still on Kindle Unlimited for a little while longer, and if you have KU, you should make this your next book.
