This is a powerful and heart-breaking story that talks about the plight of displaced children and adults living on the fringes of society, the effect of Indian Boarding Schools and the impact of the Indian Child Welfare Act. Native American heritage might be embraced the Indian way by children returned to their families.

It's a hard read, but necessary, and it a story that need to be told. While the pacing was slower than I'm used to, I liked that this book seems to be well researched, and pulls the reader in, while also giving bits of history that are often sugar-coated in a more realistic form. This is a story that I can see many being drawn to with it's rep for Native Americans and a look at a history that was once hidden and denied.
