I am pretty critical when it comes to stories that involve foster care, but I also love them at the same time. The first chapter of this story pulled me in and tore at my heart strings. I was excited to see where the story went as it started off really strong.
The writing was very descriptive and detail oriented. At times, I feel it was a little too repetitive though. I also found myself skimming some of the background information on the family. It was hard to follow when so many details were being thrown in. But, I did like learning a little around the history of the family and culture.
I wish this would have stayed and only followed Loretta and her children. Once it started to jump into different family members, I started to lose interest.
I still thought this was an ok read, and think it would make an amazing audiobook.
