Reading this was out of the ordinary for me, but the prose it was written with and the story of the two, poor girls' lives pulled me in. This book really encompassed for me how dealing with trauma and a hard life looks different for everyone. We all have our demons in the past that we try to bury deep inside ourselves. I really loved the relationship between Azure and Rainy, and I loved that their family found them and rescued them from the awful places they had been living in while they were growing up. I loved how it was a puzzle, put together by every family member's memories and recollections to give you the most complete puzzle picture. You gain so much insight and information from other characters in the story.
