A beautifully written and heartbreaking beginning

Wow. I'm left speechless and needing to know what happens to Azure and Rain next. The writing is absolutely beautiful and poetic but the story is do heartbreaking! As a mother to a girl it was extremely painful for me to read this. I just wanted to reach into the story and pull those two little girls out and give them the care and love they deserved. I'm dying to read the rest of the story. To know what happens to them and learn more about their mother, Loretta's story and why she let her children down so badly. The cover is lovely and would catch my eye in a store full of books but the story us what would hold me there until I finished. I'm eager to read Linda LeGarde Grover's other books now as I really enjoyed her beautifully poetic writing style and I love finding more own-voices/diverse authors.
