This is a novel about Julia, a twenty-something Londoner who has had some hard luck with men. Her love life is in the toilet and she has a particularly horrible sexual encounter with a young man who claims she "broke his penis"! Julia decides that she has had it with men and is going to give women a go! Unfortunately, she finds that there are lesbian relationships that can be just as damaging as straight ones.

The pros:
It is funny! I found myself laughing out loud at several places in the book. Also, most people can relate to the ups and downs of the dating scene. Julia is a sympathetic character who I truly ended up caring about and rooting for. The sex scenes are off the hook! There are lots of sexual encounters described, in detail, in the book. Some are funny, some are sad, but some are just cringe worthy.

The cons:
I am not a lesbian but if I was I might be offended by the entire premise of the book. I am not sure that anyone just decides to become a homosexual one day. As they say in the book, you either "like to lick the snail or you don't". If that phrase offends you, don't read this book! It only gets worse.

A good read if you are open to the premise of the book and the blatant sexuality. You will get some really good laughs if nothing else!
