This book struck such a balance between hilarity, wit, and heart. It follows the story of Julia, our main character, and her journey to self-discovery (peppered by romantic missteps, awkward sexual encounters, and deeply uncomfortable situations). As Julia navigates her way through all of this, she learns about who she is and what she wants (and needs) in a relationship. I appreciate the lens that this book provides into one small corner of the LGBTQ+ community, while knowing that this is just one story and is not intended to be representative of a whole community's experience.
This book is relatable in its portrayal of a dangerous and controlling relationship, is optimistic in its portrayal of Julia's familial and friend relationships, and is serious (but is balanced by levity sprinkled throughout). A great read!
