I have read the Akata Witch and Akata Warrior books so when I saw the author had more books out I was excited!
The fact that this book has a male protagonist is great, there aren't enough books with African American boys as the main character. I love the world she has created, seeing the Nigerian culture and the use of Igbo in the story. Based on her past writing I expect to see this continue through the story which I will enjoy.
I am curious to see where the story will take us whether it will be more fantasy or science fiction. I think with the comparison of his father to a superhero it will be a great book to recommend to those that are fans of Black Panther and Chadwick Boseman. The timing of the book being published with Chadwick passing away may be fortuitous.
