This was a story about a 12 year old boy, named Nnamdi, the son of the police chief. His father gets murdered and the murderer has not yet been found. His mother has to begin selling Tapioca at a market in their town of Kaleria in Nigeria, in order to make ends meet. Furthermore, the town is riddled with crime, especially after the death of the chief. Nnamdi gains a special artifact that helps him to continue his father's work. Can a 12 year old boy really curb the crime in his hometown while trying to find out who killed his father?
This was an amazing story about the heroism of a young boy and his struggle to learn balance. He alienates his friends during his struggle. I love the characters and the story. The pieces of culture in the story are wonderful. I enjoyed learning about them. This book is geared towards younger readers (YA), but I think anyone could enjoy!
