Great superhero book set in Nigeria. Nnamdi is given a powerful object by his father's ghost--one that turns him into The Man. Nnamdi's goal is to avenge his father's death, but it takes him quite a while to accept the responsibility that comes with his newfound power and to learn not to let his anger make him a monster instead of the hero he wants and needs to be. To do so, he needs the support of his best friend, Chioma, a strong young woman who plays a crucial role in helping Nnamdi use his powers for good and bring his father's murderer to justice.
The characters and setting really set this book apart from the superhero books we typically see for middle graders, and that's a welcome thing.
