I really loved the mix of cultures in this book, I really loved the diversity of the cast and how well the characters were developed. I won't get on the technical sides of things, because this book is middle grade, and I feel uncomfortable picking apart and critiquing the little mistakes of a book designated for children. I loved using myths and different cultures. I do think that it was a bit cliche because the book really never went in-depth about the magic systems involved in the book, but it's pretty interesting, I must say. Its a fantasy mixed with mystery, and to be honest, the murder wasn't as obvious as I thought it would be. Bravo. The pacing was a bit jumpy but other than that, entertaining!
