I really liked this story. It was great that Nnamdi acquired the Ikenga and got to do what he did to continue fixing what was wrong in his beloved town that his father had started as chief of police. The "man" was awesome! The people either loved him or hated him but he was a hero as far as the citizens of the town were concerned.
I thought Chioma was a great character too and I liked her relationship with Nnamdi. I loved the authors choice of names for the bad guys like Never Die and Three Day's Journey.
This wasn't the first middle grade novel I've read but it was the first written by an African American author and I'm so glad that I did. Now I'm curious if there is such a thing as an Ikenga in African American culture. I need to read more books like this one.
