Great middle grade story!
I really enjoyed this middle grade novel. The characters were well-developed and believable. I also liked the rich cultural elements in the story, and seeing a little bit of how things work differently in different places.
Nmandi had a strong voice, and Chamodi was a great best friend. I love how she stuck by Nmandi even when things got hard. I liked how Nmandi learned to deal with his grief and control his anger. I liked how the concept was based on comic books characters and how that was something that Nmandi related too. I also liked how the cover hinted at the whole comic book connection, and I liked how Nmandi was able to solve his father's murder. This was a fast-paced adventure that keeps the reader turning the pages until the end.
This is a great story for middle grade readers. I think fans of Rick Riordan, the Aru Shah series, and the Tristan Strong series will also enjoy this book.
