I received an ARC of this book thanks to Bookish First. I will preface this review with saying that I am clearly not the target demographic for this book (I'm a white woman in my 20s) and I don't think I was in a good frame of mind when reading it. Overall, I thought the book was okay. It had a promising plot line that I think would resonate with young readers. Who doesn't want to be like a superhero?
I personally had a difficult time keeping up with the characters in this book and I didn't feel very connected to any of them. I felt like I had been thrown into a world that I didn't have a whole lot of context for. All of that being said, I thought that this story was unique and I could see young readers who like adventure really digging it. I hope to be able to share this book with my cousin who is in middle school.
