I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book from BookishFirst. I am a fan of the author and while this might not be like her other books? No matter what age, gender, race or nationality Ikenga is a book anyone can enjoy. Nnamdi is a good character. Likable. One that you will root for and feel for. He's a 12 year old boy in Nigeria with a great dad who was the chief of police. A police chief actually taking action to put the criminals where they belong. Tragedy strikes and Nnamdi has a chance at vengeance. There are references to America and it's pop culture. There is magic and mysticism all taking place against the gorgeous, lush backdrop of Nigeria. There is also a moral and lessons to the story. A few people in my household read this book after me and loved it. It's a quick read (think of it as pre teen super hero read) as you get caught up in the storyline.
