Would be a great bridge between children's books and YA.
This book was really interesting to me and I think I would have loved to read it when I was much younger. If I had a pre-teen or young teenager in my life I'd recommend this book for them. It has more seriousness than some middle grade books I've read, but isn't as intense as YA novels can be.
I loved the chance to read a children's book from a different cultural perspective than the one typically presented in the books I see in stores near me. That made this book really intriguing to me. Books are such a great way to expose all people to different perspectives from what they're used to and this would be a great way to show a kid a world completely different from their own!
