I almost didn't pick up this First Look because of that cover.

It's not that it's terrible. It's just... not something I would voluntarily pick up. Too many blobs and unexplained shapes. It reminds me of the trend for covers to just be random blotches of color, and that's not a trend I enjoy.

But I thought to myself "what else are you doing tonight, really?" and picked this up anyway.

If You Could See The Sun definitely looks like it could be an interesting story. Our main character, Alice, goes to a very competitive private school, but may not for much longer. Her parents can't afford the tuition, and she is left with a choice: transfer to a public school nearby or transfer to one in Maine.

But a third choice comes around when she suddenly finds herself invisible.

This First Look doesn't really explain much, but I wasn't really expecting it to. I thought maybe we'd get a little bit more into the story, begin the explanation of her selling her classmates' secrets, but there's no talk about that in this First Look.

Still, I'm very interested in seeing where this book can go. Why is she suddenly invisible? What sort of lows will she go to in order to get the money she needs for her schooling? And what's going to happen with this rivalry between her and Henry?

I wouldn't mind reading more of this story.
