Review of If we’re being honest by Cat Shook.
The cover art is indicative of the story itself. Bright and simple at first glance there are elements of the story there if you look closely. Red, Fred, and even Miss Sparkles. I just finished reading If we’re being honest by Cat Shook and it left me a little sad and a little wistful, but fully satisfied. Initially, I expected the book to be more about the bombshell revelation that occurs at the funeral in the beginning of the story because it’s a big one. But that turns out to just be the setting for examining life and relationships of families, friends and lovers. The characters are fully developed and fully endearing. Their faults make them believable, real and genuine. Most, but not everything, has a happy ending so it’s satisfying but not unrealistic or sappy. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and
I’m looking forward to future novels by this author Cat Shook.
