In 1989 Romania, still under communist rule, Cristian Florescu is black mailed into becoming an informer. He risks his own life to show the rest of the world what is happening in Romania.
This was definitely an intense and emotional read. I had never learned about the events that took place in this book so I had no idea what it was like in Romania, and so recently too. I couldn't believe that the events in this book took place in 1989. I think more people need to read books like this that talk about different tragedies in history that aren't as well known. I think that Ruta Sepetys does a great job in her books highlighting these tragic and lesser-known historical events. And she does it in such a heartfelt and meaningful way. I recommend checking this one out.
