The first seven sentences had me hooked. I was always told that the first line should catch the reader and don't let go. "Fear arrived at five o'clock." One has to keep reading; you have no choice, you have to know what it is. Than the next six sentences really get to you. Awesome beginning.

This first reading was a real page turner! Ending chapters with small cliff-hangers, makes the reader continue. The author's descriptions of the characters and places is excellent, which make it easy to visualize. It is chilling that people were put through very unpleasant situations.

Cristian's grandfather Bunu's personality (don't tell me what to do) - love it - and Cristian's conflict of what's right/wrong and trying to justifying his morals seems to be the catalyst that keeps the story moving.

I would like to see a page of how to pronounce the Romania names and words. I'd like to give respect to the author and the characters.
