3.5 Stars for solid, quality writing. I am aware that this author is known for her gut-wrenching tales, but this seemed even darker, more depressing than her norm. I’m afraid the characters didn’t grab me as much as in her other works. I’m sure that this author’s popularity will make this a “must-read” amongst her fans, but I’m afraid I’m not convinced that it shares the same quality as her earlier, popular books. This book had the feel of trying much too hard to be as grim and tragic as possible. Hopeless, awful and depressing does not automatically equate to stirring and heart-touching. I’m grateful for the sneak-peek. With that said, I will not be adding this title to my list of TBR.
