I loved this book! I was completely invested in Freya, Nathaniel, and Harun, and could not tear myself away from their stories. This book completely drew me in. It was beautiful and deep.
I believe this young adult/new adult novel is one that could be appreciated by mature readers who don't typically read those genres. The subject matters are real and serious, yet somehow there is an underlying sense of hope and friendship that keeps things from being overly dark or depressing. There is serious substance to this book, and part of what makes it such a great read is that it all seems relatable. Although the particular situations and events may not be shared by every reader, there is an unmistakable sense of recognition of our shared vulnerability and humanity.
The writing style and the way the story was woven together, alternating between main characters, was key to the power and enjoyment of this book. We are exposed, bit by bit, to the complete tapestry and situations of these three young people who are brought together in a seemingly serendipitous way. I highly recommend this!
