Ballet Horror
As a former dancer, I love any read that centers around the ballet. Thus, I was really looking forward to Shea's take on the ballet world. However, this read had me wanting more... or should I say less? It had me wanting less of the horror and blood and suspense while wanting more of the pure ballet world. It almost seemed as if Shea used the ballet setting as a small stopover in telling a story tied more to horror and mystery and the underworld. And so, I was disappointed in the premise that this was a ballet read.
The cover art alone should have been my first indication that this book was not your typical dancer world read. Then, if you combine the cover art with the title, then you should really expect no surprises with this read - other than maybe how She chooses to end Laure's journey in the final pages.
For a debut, it gets a few stars but just cannot make my favorites list.
