Set in the northern Door County Peninsula town of Fish Creek, Wisconsin, this is an introspective look into the quiet life of a subtly troubled young woman, Elisabeth, as she tries to forget the elements of her past that have caused her much mental anguish. Then during a snow storm, she begins to realize that she may need to rely on her neighbor, Sheriff Noah, for help, and it is her coming to grips with that knowledge that makes for a very powerful novel.
