I am not a romance reader, but WOW. All of the events in this novel were extremely predictable, yet I couldn‘t stop reading. That‘s the true test of an author‘s talent. The characters were so real and I was invested in them. It is truly a feat for me to deem a romance novel five stars, but this is it. I will be picking up Center's "Things You Save in a Fire" as soon as I can get my hands on it. It is really difficult to make me feel compelled to seek out a romance novel, but Center does romance in such a literary way. She makes the reader want to take the journey of recovery with the main character, rather than just observing as the outside reader. The narrative was lived in and that's the best way I know how to describe it.
